ROSEMARIE SWEET, RESIDENT - BOARD CHAIR
Rosemarie has lived in Portland for nearly 40 years. While the first half of her career was as a labor lawyer, she has has spent the last 20 years working to develop strategies for creating sustainable and just communities in the non-profit field. This has included starting and running the Farmers Market Fund, presiding over Portland Farmers Market, and organizing and chairing the Portland Food Policy Council to advise the City on how to develop a sustainable and just food system. She also founded and directed Sustainable Communities Northwest, a sustainable affordable housing developer. She looks forward to lending her perspective and experience to this exciting initiative to create a business district that helps residents thrive.
LYNN BARLOW, RESIDENT - VICE CHAIR/SECRETARY
Lynn has been a member of Our 42nd Avenue's steering committee since 2011 and is looking forward to bringing her professional experience and skills to the board of directors. A Portland resident since 2000 and a Cully resident since 2010, Lynn has established herself as a experienced environmental restorationist and Natural Areas supervisor with the City of Portland. Lynn is committed to public service and has previously served on the board of BARK, a local environmental non-profit. In addition to her passion for environmentalism, Lynn has brought enthusiasm and energy to programs, projects, and outreach for community-driven economic development along 42nd Ave. Lynn is looking forward to working with a the expanded staff of Our 42nd Avenue and a diverse group of board members.
Tyree Montgomery, Resident - Treasurer
Tyree is a Portland native and homeowner in the Cully neighborhood since 2005 where she resides with her husband of 17 years, their children and pup. While she believes tacos are a super food and she has a sweet spot for live Jazz in her leisure time; Tyree spends her time professionally as a digital graphics and brand positioning strategist catering to small businesses and formerly a Resource Support Assistant at Portland Community Colleges Metropolitan Workforce Training Center located on 42nd Avenue. Tyree has a vested interest to support the people in the communities she lives and works in. As a resident who is familiar with overcoming housing challenges and a former Vice Chair of Albina Early Headstart Policy Council, she understands the importance of investing at the neighborhood level and the community working together to create both opportunities and solutions. Tyree is excited to bring her skills, experience and passion to support the vision for 42nd Avenue businesses and our community.
CAROLYN WESTERFIELD, OWNER OF THE JANE DOUGH BUILDING
Carolyn's interest and active participation in the business district on 42nd Avenue began in 2000 when her business, Delphina's Bakery, purchased the building and property at NE Going and 42nd Ave. She took a leave of absence from the business while she attended graduate school to study Anthropology. Carolyn became the sole owner of the business in 2004 and became an active member of the 42nd Avenue Business Association, eventually taking over the role as President and serving as the district representative on the Board of Venture Portland. Carolyn has seen much improvement in the district over the past 10 years and is vested in the future of 42nd Avenue. Carolyn looks forward to 42nd Avenues fulfillment of its potential in becoming a vibrant, community-serving business district.
